I left my power adapter for this compy at work. Oops.
Got back from my mini-vacation back home last night. Good times. My head is spinning... I'll admit to being slightly sad I had to return. All in all though, this whole CT thing is best for me. Makes me stronger.

SO my car is possessed. I took it into the shop to get the check engine light checked out, and it suddenly wasn't on anymore as soon as they started messing with it. I think my car is hiding something.
And, people are weird.
And, it's flattering to have someone try to push a social interaction on you really, especially in the context that it happened to me recently, but it's a little uncommon... rare even... for me so I think I screwed it up by not being able to react with grace and appreciation.

So as the clock tics, running down the time until I leave for Richmond, I can't help but get excited.
Richmond and I have a "love hate" relationship. I hate the city, but I love the people and places in it. I miss a few people pretty hard... Rick (my buddy), Michelle, Devon, Amanda, Kira, Theta Tau... so many. I'm just thanking fate I have the chance to go back before November, but wishing I could have more time there.
Oh, and I got my kilt today! I'm pretty stoked. It's comfy.

I don't know what it is about the internet that attracts me to it, but it's again 9pm on a weeknight. I was going to start reading a new book this week and so far I'm failing at it. How does so much time pass on this tube??

So I thought I'd go in at 7am this morning and be all early so I could get some things done. I arrived at 645am and realized I was 45 minutes late. Oops. Physical Inventory scheduled for today and tomorrow. My bad, yo! But, it's all good because I don't punch a time clock and I bust my ass generally most of the time while I'm there.
Tiffany (my car. I named her because I'm vain. Get over it. Shallow maybe. But not really. Also, Tiffany is a good name for a dirty little whore) is having issues. I am getting her a checkup this week, but I don't think I can get her fixed up before I head down to Va for a few days... so, hopefully the trip doesn't cause more damage. Stupid check engine light... persistent little bugger!
I also discovered another communication barrier with people native to New England. Apparently asking "What time do you close?" when talking to the UPS guy is like asking "What is the meaning of life, the universe, and all things?" because I get an answer that makes no sense at all, but is completely awesome and satisfying. I was having a package delivered to me at work today and they messed up the street number, so it never came. I called to see if I could pick it up at the distribution center, and the guy was like.."we close at 6." But he then explained (rather poorly, hence my confusion) that I could let him know if I wanted to have it delivered tomorrow or go pick it up... but the driver might not get there before close... but I could pick it up. But... what? So confused. I had to spell it out and ask "can I pick it up tonight, after the driver gets back, regardless of the time?" To which he said yes, they'd call me with a time to come get it.
Sheesh! So much hassle...lol
So, in order to rid myself of CT's lameness I am heading to Va for a few days. I then plan to hit up Boston again soon. But, next year I am definitely going on an Alaska Cruise for 8 days I think. If you're interested, and don't mind the cold, let me know! I'd love to make it a big outing or something!

So, I haven't posted up in years. Really, go check the dates. And I don't mean anywhere, I refer specifically to this thing here. Why does it matter, you might ask? Just get on with it! you might say.
I read something and it inspired me to write.
I am offended by guys who don't get a flippin clue. Specifically guys who don't seem to get a clue when it comes to girls. It bothers me when a guy acts like a hero and tries to always know what's best for "his woman" and really doesn't ASK, and then more importantly LISTEN.
This rant is motivated by a couple of things. I shared some stories this weekend with someone who seems to be pretty cool, and those stories got me thinking. But, then I witnessed something that seriously made me want to get up and break someone.
Granted, the chick was acting completely psycho and really just needed to stfu... but, when the guy started forcibly handling her, I got irritated. I was sitting on some random steps at Yale campus around 1am last night. I had just finished a lovely evening of watching a very entertaining movie and having a couple of drinks... when out of nowhere this guy and girl walked down the alley into the street. She was flipping out about something, it sounded like she suspected "her man" of screwing around. He, of course, wanted to console her and try to help her become more rational, but in his attempt he himself became irrational. Things got "ugly." I thought he was being pathetic when he rushed up to hug her... like a little, subservient lap dog...but really he was trying to gain leverage. He picked her up as she screamed, and he then shoved her into the back seat of a car. I started to get up, because it looked like he was starting to do some not very nice things to her, but he looked back and realized he was being watched I suppose. He then shut the back door, jumped in the driver's seat, and drove off. With her screaming the whole time.
Now, I don't care how psychotic a chick is, you don't treat a woman like that. If she wants to flip out, let her. Walk away. If she follows, she wants you to listen... so do so, then walk away.
So, today I read something someone posted about creepy guys and how they should start carrying "harmful objects" with them. What the flip is wrong with people these days? Dude, if she OBVIOUSLY isn't interested, go the pluck away!
On the other hand, ladies, if you haven't told him outright and direct that you aren't interested and he should leave you alone, rather than continuing the nice, maybe even flirty behavior, then I'm not surprised he's not getting a clue.
Anyway. So it's been an interesting weekend. I enjoyed some stories of struggle and conquest, and learned a few things. All in all I feel like it wasn't a wasted weekend. More importantly, I feel like I would do it again anytime. Except minus the part where I watch that guy throw that girl into his car.

School: It's school. You figure it out.
Work: Same old routine. Still struggling.
Life: Stressed out lately. But overall I'm happy. I have a great group of friends, and the guys and girls in Theta Tau have proven to be great people.
Is there anything else? Recreation? Lets think about this word for a minute. It sounds like it comes from the word Re Create. So recreation would be the act of re-creating something. So, have I re-created something lately? No, just headaches.
Ya'll should see what happens at around 3-4am in hte neighborhood... it's amusing. Oh, and finally watched The Last Samurai from the beginning. One of his better roles I think. Good flick.

Alignment:
Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.

Ok. I will say this though. I hope Gavin had a wonderful Birthday. He is indeed 2 now, and I'm sure he's grown quite a bit. I wouldn't know, every attempt I've made to see him this last year has failed miserably, and I have recieved very limited and broken updates on his life. I have 2 'recent' pictures. Thanks for those. I have heard nothing about how he's been, what he says these days, has be been injured lately, etc. So, if anyone would like to bash me for not being involved in my son's life, fine. Bash away. Just remember, it's 50/50, and I can only get involved if I'm allowed to. I'm really frustrated and hurt by this whole situation. It's not right for Gavin to be so far away from his dad, and the rest of his family. If I would have known it would come to this, I never would have trusted his mother to take him away. I miss my son. It's not fair to him that he's stuck over there in Portland with them, and it's not fair that he's being raised by his grandparents instead of his paternal parents. Especially when at least one of them actually wants to raise him, and has made every effort to provide a better life for him... ie getting back into school while working full time, getting an apartment alone to make room for Gavin, being able to support themselves without the help from family and local governments, etc. I guess instant gratification is more important to some people. Unfortunately, those people wouldn't know a thing about real goals and aspirations, or how to struggle with the work required to make those things happen. I feel very cheated, and very taken advantage of. But of course, that's all outrageous! She's the real victim here, she's the one who's been taken advantage of! Quick, world! Take care of her so she doesn't have to!
... sadly, Gavin is too young to understand that he, alone, is the true victim. One day he will realize, and that day he'll also make a choice.

Rocks are alive! Mountains, hills, stones, pebbles, sand, silt, grit.. it's all alive! The stones you can hold in your hand are the children, smashed off from, the bigger parent rocks! The chain is endless... there is merit to the old cliche "A chip off the old block!" Holy cow. This is quite an epiphany for me. My whole world view has changed.
Ok. No. I was kidding. Rocks aren't alive, because they can't die. You can't kill them. Life implies death, so there's no way rocks have life. Also, rocks don't consume resources, they don't discharge waste, they don't reproduce on their own, they don't move. They do respond to stimulants, however. If you heat a rock, it gets hot, and stays hot for a while. But that's chemistry and thermodynamics stuff, not a qualifier for life.
Rocks are necesary for life though. Minerals are derivatives of rock, and we need those minerals for our bodies to have any metabolism and produce energy. But that still doesn't make the rock itself alive.
So why are there people who try so hard to convince me rocks are alive? Is it because they're in a 300 level college class and they want desperately to sound academic and intelectual? Is that why they say a lot, while not saying anything at all? Is that why they use big words and complex sentances? Dude... you can sound like an Ivey League brat all you want, and you can talk until you're blue in the face; but unless you have a real point you're getting to, or you can even back yourself up with fact or even well founded opinion, WITHOUT getting caught up in the filibuster, you will never convince me rocks are alive. Thanks for trying though!
